silvio_nardiSilvio Nardi bought Casale del Bosco Estate in Montalcino in 1950. In 1958 the first Brunello was released from Casale del Bosco. It was the first wine from a “foreigner” in Montalcino. In 1962 another property was bought, Manachiara Estate, around 25 km from Casale del Bosco.

Today the Tenute Silvio Nardi has about 80 hectares (200 acres) of vineyard and the estate is run by Silvio’s children with Emilia in front.

The vineyards are planted east and west of Montalcino in a hilly area between 140 metres and 480 metres above sea level. Sangiovese is the main grape variety but around 10% is planted with Colorino, Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot.

Tenute Silvio Nardi makes the following wines:

Brunello di Montalcino Vigneto Manachiara DOCG (single vineyard)

Rosso di Montalcino
Merlot Sant’ Antimo
